Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen is talking about a world populated by deities and heroes, called Terminus. The player will be as a legendary hero, stripped of his or her powerful relics and left to explore the dramatically diverse and epic regions of Terminus with hopes of reclaiming their relics and those of lost heroes. Combat will be executed by pre-selecting spells and abilities based on player experience and strategy.
On today`s show the VoT Crew about Starting Cities and what they expect to see in Pantheon. They also talked about how to prevent a city from becoming a ghost town and or a Central Hub. Also they talked about some of the possible things a Player could maybe do in the City.
In EQ2 you weren’t even ready to venture out of your starting city until level 10. It built up a sense of danger about the world outside and gave the beginning some mystery.
Under natural conditions a primary trading city will emerge because of the massive advantages of making more money in a larger economy. But when this happens, it drains players from the other cities and results in empty feeling cities. Ideally we want all cities to be populated with real players of all levels. Where low level players can see and interact with many people in their home region creating a rich world surrounded by friends and excitement. Creating this kind of world means that each city has their own hub or meeting place where people buy and sell their goods and buffs locally.
Here are some ideas to encourage multiple hubs:
1: Give certain teleport spells a long cool down (30+ minutes)
2: Teleport destinations aren’t right next to a city
3: Add a city tax to transactions when the buyers’ race is different from the city
4: Charge an entrance fee to high level people entering foreign cities. (Or pay off a guard)
5: Offer a prayer shrine ect in each city that buffs only those born there
6: City factions soft bans some foreign races
7: Offer a weekly or monthly racial quest given in your home city
8: Add a tariff to some items that are sold on a different continent then they are from.
9: Faster manaregen/stamina Regen when in your home city
Best idea: Create a city of the week where each week a different city provides a trading discount and offers a special quest. This would shift the main trading hub every week and perhaps prevent a permanent trading hub from forming. Maybe have a city of the week for each continent so there are always two cities of the week.
